چکیده

An underground coal gasification (UCG) process is strongly exothermic, which will cause thermal damage on rock cap. We proposed a new numerical model based two dimension particle flow code (PFC2D) to analyze the inception and extension of cracks pre-cracked red sandstone, were thermally treated at temperature 25~1000 °C. The results indicated that: (1) value DT obtained by extracting crack area scanning electron microscope (SEM), can be used as an indicator degree sandstone; (2) established replacing flat-joint with smooth-joint DT, this approach properly simulate mechanical behavior failure patterns (3) critical for strength reduction was 750 peak increased pre-treatment from 25 °C then decreased. elastic modulus E1 decreased increasing treatment temperature; (4) micro-scale initiate tip prefabricated fissure, expand along direction finally developing into macroscopic fracture. This has potential enhance predictive capability modeling presents reliable damaged sandstones, thereby offering sound scientific basis utilization space after UCG.

Discrete Element Modeling of Dynamic Compaction with Different Tamping Condition

Dynamic Compaction (DC) is a common deep compaction method that is usually used for densification of coarse-grained soils. Although traditional continuum-based models such as the Finite Element Method can be successfully applied for assessment of stress distributions or deformations induced by DC, they are typically not adequate for capturing the grain scale mechanisms of soil behavior under im...

Effects of temperature and confining pressure on mode II fracture toughness of rocks (Case study: Lushan Sandstone)

The fracture mechanics examines the development and expansion of cracks in solids and how they affect the deformation of materials. The stress intensity factors at the tip of the crack and the critical stress intensity factors or fracture toughness of materials are considered in the relevant criteria. There are three main modes of applying forces to a crack including the tensile mode, shear mod...

Confining Strings at High Temperature

We show that the high-temperature behaviour of the recently proposed confining strings reproduces exactly the correct large-N QCD result, for a large class of trun-cations of the long-range interaction between surface elements.

modeling of different subsoiler tines performance using discrete element method

for designing tillage implements it would be better to estimate soil forces exerted to the implements. many researches showed that numerical method of discrete element method (dem) is the cheapest and fastest technique for modeling granular material such as soil and especially sandy soil. in this study, paraplow and bentleg tines performance was compared with conventional tine using experimenta...

Pressure Calculation in the Flow Between Two Rotating Eccentric Cylinders at High Renolds Numbers

This paper reports the result of an analytical investigation of a steady, incompressible and viscous flow between two eccentric, rotating cylinders at high Reynolds number. A one dimensional case is far from reality because the gap between the cylinders is very small. Further, when their axes are displaced by a small distance, usually caused by bearing loads, two dimensional effects become obvi...
